no thanks mate… fuck you

If you are in Melbourne this Thursday get down to the ‘Hi Fives At Highlander’ photography exhibition. I think each artist has five shots in the show each so the name makes sense.
I cant say I’m too familiar with Anyone on the bill besides Denny, but he takes a good shot and is an even better dude, so come down, have a drink and support a cool show.
The Flyer even includes a shot of some of us Tuesday night guys in the ShifterBikes Studio hanging out…

This is a really nicely shot video showing ‘a day in the life’ and some of the production process involved when producing a handbuilt bicycle frame over at Geekhouse Bikes.
Definately worth a watch if you have any interest in bikes, or any appreciation for how quality products are manufactured.
Check it!
here are some of the framesets he has created.

Another fucking solid intro
A SECRET DEATH – Gloom with a view

Something I put together tonight during a break from study…
could do with a bit of tightening up.

Some recent images of bike related shit from ‘Melburn Mayhem: Wheelz O’ Death’ and ‘Big Trouble In Little China Town’ in Melbourne from Ben at geometricity.com

Melburn rollz deep
This photo was taken of my trusty steed 130k’s north of Melbourne

man im pretty sore hey… Knees are defs feeling it from riding fixed…
Im so sick of spending my weekends in a bikeshop selling, repairing and building bikes yet never getting to ride mine with my friends… its the real catch22 of mixing work with pleasure. So I decided that with the shop being closed Easter Long weekend, I was going to get away and have a good ride.
Echuca, on the border of N.S.W. and Victoria down to the city I love, Melbourne.
I reset my speedo the night before I left and as i got home I’ve now clocked up 316k’s. I didnt expect the ride to be as hilly as it was.
I met Ben at Southern Cross station at 11.45AM Saturday morning Our 12.15PM train to Echuca got terminated in Bendigo, so we had to board a Coach and get that there, that basically put us an hour and a half behind schedule, and we spent the last 45k’s riding in the dark in the middle of nowhere with only moonlight and our flashing LED lights… shit was scary as we could barely see 5metres infront of us and couldnt see the road surface very well. The Shoulder of hte highway dropping in and out, taking us from sealed bitumen to loose gravel. To add another dynamic to it, we had cars and trucks buzzing past at 110kph 1.5 metres to our right.
Got into Bendigo, got awesome pizza/pasta, had a couple of beers, bumped into a friend in the bar which was random/awesome and Ben had some girl spew on his shoes in the Pub… we went back to the room, had Max meet us from a late train at midnight, and crashed out…
Left at 9am from Bendigo and we ended up taking our time with rest stops, Stopped at Lake Eppalock for a toasted sandwich and water, Redesdale for water and fruit, Kyneton for water (where we were given incorrect directions, and a map that had roads on it that did not exist and that was missing the crucial roads for our route… this resulted in us being lost in New Gisborne when we should have been in Riddles Creek, wasted lots of time with that.) Woodend we had lunch at the bakery, Sunbury nibbles and water, Tullamarine airport for more water and then into Nth Melbourne at a bike store opening party.
Had a Kangaroo bounce along next to us to the left of the road, We moo’d at a few cows
Stopped at a truckstop toilet where the basin was covered in what looked to be jizz.
Listened to Judas Priest – Nightcrawler riding in the dark
Riding past Tullamarine airport we had a Plane come in for landing over our heads and scare the shit out of us.
A lot of shitty road surfaces and shoulders on highways with crap all over them, but it made the smooth parts feel awesome.
I think my top speed was about 67kph coming down the hills into Sunbury, fucking awesome hills to smash down, but a little scary without brakes after doing so many k’s and having your legs nearly spin out due to speed and being weary.
Heading the group and sitting on the front for so long definately took it out of me, but it was awesome to see Max rocket up every hill like it aint no thang… Was a great effort from Ben as he doesnt get to do a great deal of k’s on his bike. And Max’s random quotes from ‘Hot Rod’ (‘ohhhhhh Kathy’) and random singing of ‘Europe – The Final Countdown’ was good for moral.
We saw Chancho, the little chubby kid from Nacho Libre In Redesdale
“Pssssst Chancho… I need to borrow some sweatssss. Chancho: are you leaving us? Nacho: No, Chancho, I would never leave you.”

And This mural on the wall of the service station in Redesdale was also awesome.
Note the longneck in the front basket… my man.

was a great trip to get away and it was definately the longest ride I’ve done to date, I look forward to doing more. Feels really good now that I’m back and sore all over… and by all over i mean it feels like a prize fighter has been kicking me relentlessly in my ass.
Alright!

And so my increasingly bad sleeping patterns are to become the even more ridiculous thanks to this guy sitting in my kitchen… coffee on hand all the time… anytime…
Black with two thanks.
so i figured i’d get my shit together for a decent post…
