Back up against the wall

27 11 2009

So today I helped Ben prep and paste up a wall that he shot an image for.

This wall is in conjunction with the Bicycle Film Festival and on location for the festivals closing party in the park Behind PS Bikes on the Corner of Peel and Cambridge in Fitzroy on Sunday the 29th of November.

I arrived to Ben and Ilana(BicycleFilmFestival) cutting and prepping the sheets inside PS Bikes and  got to helping them finish.

The PS Bikes space is pretty cool and definately has a lot of potential.

Peter the Owner specialises in and imports Brands from overseas, in particular Denmark. His home Country.

Below are some of the Vintage Dutch Style bikes he had in, athough he now mainly focuses on load carrying Christiania Bikes.

This is a picture that was on his workshop wall, I forgot to ask who it was.

…walk among us

The Halloween Alleycat Friday night was super fun. Starting and finishing at Pony Bikes, lots of people dressed up, and the race was set up in a pentagram across the city, nice one.

There were plently of people toting cameras so more images will get uploaded up here in the next couple of days, check back soon.

Thanks to Lane and Brian for organising the race, thanks to Sasha putting up with all of us.

‘and s(mash) through your dreams’

25 09 2009

This isn’t really a new edit from the Mash dudes, but it’s getting me really keen to get the fuck out of this town for a few days on the bike once the semester has finished.

Check it.

Cooper Brownlee/FocalPointBMX

16 09 2009

Coops is one of those guys that always stuck in my mind as someone incredibly passionate about BMX who always seems to be doing something proactive within the scene. Always shooting film, filming for videos, producing his free magazine ‘FocalpointBMX’ or just straight up shredding, he has definately immersed himself within BMX and all of its mediums.

Check out his website www.focalpointbmx.com and be sure to pick up the print magazine when you can. He’s come a long way from the black and white hand photocopied issues years ago and has managed to step it up to full colour comprehensive issues containing some epic photography and great features.

Check the trailer from the last FocalPoint DVD ‘The Waiting List’

And a web edit of Coops from his bike sponsor ‘WeThePeople’

i-MiEV

4 09 2009

Another uni assignment… Had a scenario for my Promotional Design class which was to design an Image Based and a Text Based advertising solution for the new Mitsubishi iMiev electric car.

Image Based Solution -
Made a mock wall and fitted an electrical outlet socket to it, got loose with some crayons, set it up in my room with some fake skirting board and some matchbox cars and extra crayons, stole every lamp in the house to light it and then shot it. Took it to PhotoShop and tweaked it for submission.
Wish I could have shot it better, but i suck at cameras.

The Setup:

The Final Image:

was pretty happy with how it came up and I even got to purchase some crayons and matchbox cars…

Text Based Solution -

Wasn’t quite as fun or hands on as the Image based concept, but a cheesy play on words and some of the ol’ Helvetica treatment got this one over the line.

Kicking and Screening

4 09 2009

Had to do the standard personal identity ‘identikit’ project for the ‘contextual design’ class of my new uni course…

A3 was the format so I drew up a bunch of things that i guess have meshed together over the years to make me, me.
Scanned it in and had the good ol’ chap Mr Tooth help me screen a few down at Easey St…
Was really great to get hands on and finally have some fun with the screenprinting process in the flesh, thanks Cal.

This is the red on cream… there were better ones where we mixed inks but my lecturer still has them
